Fundamentals: Every retail employee should know
 
1. CASH Counter is very important place of Customer Interception

2. No customers ever likes to stand in QUEUES for long

3. Cashiers should have WARM & PLEASENT disposition.

4. Cashiers can & should introduce customers to various offers & schemes of the store
 
Some smooth cashiering steps:
 
1. Greet customers with a SMILE & maintain EYE contact

2. Check with the customer if he is done with his shopping. “Did you find everything you needed today?”

3. SCAN all Merchandise one by one into the system

4. While Scanning count each item LOUD

5. As you count, BAG them to avoid confusion 6. Once billing is complete, TELL the customer total bill value 7. ASK whether he/she will pay by CASH or CARD

8. Count LOUD the Cash given by customer, enter into the system & TILL it

9. Handover balance back to the customer by saying it ALOUD along with the bill

10. THANK and WELCOME BACK EACH & EVERY CUSTOMER while handing over the carry bag
 
Fundamental mistakes: every retail employee across the cash counter must avoid
 
1. Not handing over BILL to the customer

2. Counting errors. ‘SHORT & EXCESS’

3. Keeping cash till OPEN

4. Not LOCKING the cash till & not carrying the keys SAFELY

5. Keeping PERSONAL cash & papers in the till

6. Leaving the cash till OPEN & turning your BACK or bending down with the customer in front of you

7. Allowing friends, colleagues or unknown people ACCESS into the cash counter
